And then I went totally nuts with the photo filters!
A few days ago I mentioned how much I always enjoyed working at corporate jobs during the days between Christmas and New Year’s Day. It was always such a great time to get everything in order for the upcoming year.
What I kind of forgot about until today was how there was a point during that week when sorting and organizing was mostly done and the atmosphere hit all new levels of relaxation. Lunches got a bit longer and work talk was replaced with actually getting to know the people you work with better. Bosses left early for the day and really didn’t expect that anyone was going to be working too hard after they left.
No wonder I find myself in full goof off mode today. And lookie lookie lookie! While I was playing I figured out how to turn some photos of my older colorings into sparklie black velvet masterpieces! How’s that for fun?
Today’s eye candy slideshow:
Now this is where it gets really exciting. Take a look at these imaginary pencil colors!

Artificial photo effect sparklies added after coloring. But wouldn’t it be great to have pencils and markers that glowed like this!
Today’s book: A whole bunch of them!
Colored with: Pencils, markers, crayons and computer magic!

Additional thoughts from this morning’s Facebook post:
Good morning everyone!
It’s one of those “head full of creative ideas” mornings where I’ve already interrupted this post several times to do some drawing and some music making. Since I just hit the point where I’m also thinking about dusting and reorganizing some stuff in storage bins, perhaps this is going to be a rather short morning greeting.
The changing to a new year is really just a change of state of mind, with the added bit of work in having to remember to write 2017 instead of 2016. It’s weirdly exciting for me this year, though. Removing some of my familiar and habitual clock markers creates a lot of open moments where my next activity can be whatever matches my mood of the moment. Once again I am so thankful that I never signed on with a conventional publisher, turning every creative effort into progress steps on someone else’s timeline.
I’m pretty sure that my days and weeks and seasons are never going to seem quite open and ample enough, because every time I make them more open I can always think of changes I can make to open them even further. But having the sense most of the time that I can drop whatever I may be doing and pick up a sketchbook, or go sit with the goats, or have a cup of tea with my husband, or look at the flower garden – that’s such an incredible renewing feeling even if I don’t actually do any of those things after all.
I this morning’s blog pictures, one of the things that’s in every one of the pictures is my sense of getting totally lost in exploration and play. I do hope that the feeling is contagious, and that you also enjoy the feeling of unconstrained abundant creativity today.
Have a lovely coloring Thursday!
