One of the things that’s going on in the background while I color this piece is that every time I finish coloring a set of shapes, I keep thinking that I’m going to do those little polka dots next. And then I try to pick a shade for them and start thinking that maybe I’ll just color one more set of shapes before I make a final decision on polka dot color.

I know that they are going to look perfectly fine in any shade, but they are such happy little dots that I want them to be just right. So again and again I almost start coloring but decide to wait at the last second.

I don’t even know how many different right ways there are to color one of my drawings. Lots and lots of ways. Even colorings with a mistake or two or several look perfectly pretty when they are finished – so there really is no need to ever worry about whether you’ve chosen the very best color to go with a particular shape. But sometimes a little shape will capture your imagination and you may find yourself fussing over it a bit to make it “just so”.

What’s funny is that every single time my husband looks at my progress on this picture, he keeps noticing a set of shapes that remind him of a Schnauzer dog’s face. But for me, it’s those polka dots that keep grabbing my eye, lol. 🙂
