It all started with a little dab of green. It’s been rainy and thoughts of green lawns and freshly watered gardens were on my mind.

How about just a little more green?

And just a touch more. I can always add some dramatic black if it starts to look too green.

Oh dear. That’s a lot of green. This looks like a big salad now. How in the world am I going to save this one? I think I’ve over-greened.

I need to add another color. One that’s not green. What goes with oodles of greens? Hmm…I think I’ll add a couple of carrot slices.

And some cherry tomatoes.

Maybe some bacon bits. Or raisins. They can be either. Oh my. So much for that elegant black and green masterpiece I was considering. I’ve done it now! There’s no turning back. I am coloring a big salad. Thoughts of the Seinfeld “Big Salad” episode flow through my mind. And I think I need to add another color or two – but which ones? Is there still enough coloring left to leave the salad zone? Then again, this is one pretty cool big salad. What to do…

Aha! Of course! How perfect!

Oh, this is delicious. I mean lovely. Why am I getting hungry?

Yes – just a sprinkling of crispy sweet onions. Mmmmmm…

And a few more bacon bits. Or raisins. You decide. You know, they look sort of like dried cherries too. I wonder if we have any of those left. Those would be such a nice flavor to add to my big salad.

So much for serious coloring! It’s whimsical! It’s fun! It’s a big salad – and I really enjoyed this odd little coloring journey. (It’s also from Balance For Crayons And Wide Tipped Markers.)
