Gingerbread cookie coloring still. In today’s slideshow you can see more of the “white” frosting that was colored using two extremely pale beige tones to give the white some frosted contour.

From my Facebook post:
Good morning everyone!
This page is really tuning into a slow coloring. One of the things that’s taking the most time is the long pauses while I try to figure out how I want to color the next bit. There are all kinds of candy and frosting possibilities and I’m not quite sure which decorations to put where.
It’s really a good thing I’m doing this in ink instead of with frosting – I can imagine exactly what my kitchen counter might look like with all of the decorating pieces spread out from here to there. Cleanup is going to be a lot easier too.
The shading in this piece is mainly just simple edging with a darker shade and then filling with a slightly lighter one. Also a little bit of “color the interior corner with the dark shade and use light on the outer edges” for the parts that look like gathered up ribbon. It’s not very elaborate or difficult shading, but over the course of the entire cookie those little variations in tone start to add up and help the mind imagine a sense of depth. And that helps the mind imagine eating gingerbread cookies too, lol.
Have a lovely coloring Wednesday!
