Note: This week I’ll be posting somewhat smaller slide shows since there’s a holiday shopping rush on the Internet that’s slowing down a lot of people’s internet connections.

Thinky thoughts posted to my Facebook group this morning:
Good morning everyone!
Decreasing my daily words is doing me a lot of good. It leaves room to really focus on splitting hairs and working on wellbeing on a micro scale. Today’s big thing is breaking my habit of delaying appreciation until I finish coloring an entire row of shapes.
The habit of “let me just do one or two more things before I pause and openly appreciate the moment” is really strongly ingrained in me. It’s a mindset that gets reinforced during schooling, in business culture, in popular culture – and of course also by me repeating it again and again out of mindless habit.
This is all really just a slightly different shade of “stop and smell the roses”. Kind of like “Hey! I mean actually stop and actually smell those roses instead of looking at the roses and quoting that old saying to yourself!” Slightly different shades – but the more we color, the more we get attuned to tiny differences.
It always feels rather silly when I come up with the next newer and higher power magnifying glass to use as I look at how “well” I use my present moments. But I really do find great joy each time I find that extra layer of how rich my little world is. During a season where advertisers present visions and hopes of fantasy life so that they can nudge people into shopping for something just a bit better than right now, my need to appreciate right here and now gets extra strong. Each of these itty bitty dots in today’s coloring is a little practice in being aware and content – and being sparklie too!
Have a lovely coloring Saturday!
