This summer, when I published the wide tipped version of Balance, I decided to do what a lot of you do and color the entire book start to finish, in order. I cut the pages out of the book one at a time and put my page on a clipboard to color.

As I color this picture, I can’t help but notice how skinny my book is now. There’s only one drawing left between the covers and it’s going to be weird to remove that last page.

In a few days, I’ll be back to hopping back and forth between books – never know which drawing I’m going to choose next. I do like to switch back and forth between square patterns, round ones, extreme ones and roomier ones.

But you colorists who color in order have something really cool going on. I’m glad that I picked this book to color along in order with you.

This picture is winding down with mostly calm colors with hints of garden flower pots and green foliage. It makes me wonder what kind of colors I should pick for that final page of the book, but I quickly put those thoughts aside so that this picture gets the attention it deserves.

I am still thinking ahead to the end of the book a little, though – and notice my coloring is really, really slow right now. In fact, I’m not going to rush to finish this picture tonight.

Today’s coloring is the 49th picture from Balance For Crayons And Wide Tipped Markers.
