My last shaded coloring was so relaxing that I figured I’d shade another one. This time I’ll be edging shapes with one shade and then lightly coloring over with a second tone.

This kind of shading works best for me when I make a point to enjoy how slow it can be. For me, that also means making sure that I stop when I see the first signs that exceeding my patience. My coloring stamina tends to be a bit lower when I’m working with newer skills – probably because I do burn some extra energy being careful with each stroke and wondering what I’m going to do next.

As long as the mindset stays comfortable, the coloring stays enjoyable and I make a point to finish up on a high note and allow enough time to smile at my work for a while. Adding in that few moments of “yeah, I like this” is important if you are trying new things that might not be completely in your comfort zone yet.

Today’s coloring is from Centered For Crayons And Wide Tipped Markers (Angie’s Gentle Mood Menders – Volume 2).
