Today’s coloring started with a big mistake right at the very start. I had it all figured out how I was going to shade the corners of a few of these ribbons with a dark purple – but then I lost track of where I was in the pattern and ended up with shadows in the wrong place.

But something about this design really caught my attention today and there was just no way that I wanted to stop and give up on it. I ended up cranking on my best “oh well, whatever” attitude and went back to flinging color around without any great hopes of creating a masterpiece. And as often happens, the design is solid enough to handle unexpected surprises and before long I was fully into the coloring zone.

Here’s a slide show with my step by step slow coloring progress:

You may have noticed that my pictures are kind of haphazard today too. 🙂 Apparently my concentration is a bit lacking. Hopefully this rather random looking slideshow communicates the sense of fun and freedom in just coloring any which way and seeing what may happen.
