Wowie! Every once in a while you stumble onto a really cool color scheme and I think today’s is going to be one of my favorites. I really liked how this picture was shaping up yesterday, and then…

Here comes the rusty tones. As soon as I started using this shade I was just captivated by the way it looked against the olives, yellows and blues.

And it just keeps getting better and better as I being in another rusty tone.

And another.

A little bit of kind of a butterscotch yellow to connect those feathered hats to the middle ring of the design.

And a little more blue. I wasn’t sure about using more blue here at first, but was so happy with the way it edges the central ring of the pattern.

More olive – and I’m loving every minute of this. I keep trying to think of what these colors remind me of and come up with nothing.

A few more little spots colored, and I’m thinking about how this would make an amazing rug. Or maybe a nice, flowing skirt. Or a pattern on a silk scarf. I keep pausing to look at my picture, marveling at how much I like the colors. And none of the colors in this picture are my usual favorites.

I have no idea how to create an “all the colors magically come together and look great” coloring day. Days like that pop up whenever they decide it’s time to put in an appearance. Maybe I need to create a new blog tag for color schemes like this. How about “Surprisingly Wow Color Schemes”? Yes – that sounds right, doesn’t it?

(Today’s coloring is from Balance For Crayons And Wide Tipped Markers, colored with these Copic Sketch marker shades.)
